It’s clear that Microsoft needs a good reason to retract its previous statements and continue to abandon Windows 10 by introducing a new number for the operating system. The Redmond giant has been preparing for a long time to redesign the update, called the Valley of the Sun (“Valley of the Sun”) – apparently, this is the name Windows 11 was given. The Sun Valley project has been flickering on the web for a long time, with Microsoft regularly revealing details about the new interface style, insiders sharing previously unknown information, and popular designers drawing realistic concepts based on it all. – Launched and system items float above the bottom bar. Start is the calling card and face of every latest version of Windows.
We have to admit that this small change makes the system look much fresher
It is not surprising that the developers of Windows 11 will transform it again, but not so much functionally as visually – the Start window will float above the bottom bar. Based on information from the network, Microsoft will not radically change the “internal” menu – the innovations will affect only the design of the window itself. The control panel will also float and will have the exact same design as Start. – Action center will be combined with control buttons – something similar has been used for a long time in some other operating systems. Almost every mention of the new menu indicates that it will be an island, with controls on a separate panel, notifications on another, and individual elements (like the player) on another separate panel.
– Rectangles disappear, replaced by fillets
In fact, insiders and creators of concepts are divided on this matter, with some believing that Microsoft will not change its tradition and stick to the right angle, while others are convinced that in 2021 Microsoft will follow the fillet fashions. The latter fits the definition of “all new Windows” better – sliding menus aren’t enough to make the new design truly new. The cuts are expected to affect almost everything in the system, from context menus and system panels to all application windows. True, even in this matter, the opinions of the creators of the concept differ – some draw fillets in all possible surface elements, others combine them at right angles. – There will be a transparent, blurred background everywhere.

There is disagreement on the web about the style of the windows screen island, the design of the corners and the levitation effect of the menus, but almost everyone agrees on the transparency of the windows. Moreover, these effects are even included in the assembly of the canceled Windows 10X operating system, which Microsoft developed in parallel with the Sun Valley project for devices with two screens and weak apps.
