Day of the Jackal (1973) remake
The play shifts the setting to the current era. In my opinion, the series is worth watching, especially because Eddie Redmayne’s performance as the killer is nothing short of brilliant. He’s incredibly versatile in his role, in one scene he’s very natural and loving as a family man, in another he’s completely calculating and cold, and it’s totally believable from him.
very different facial expressions
He also comes across very convincingly as someone who really knows his way around guns and even in action scenes he shows strength and dynamism and quick decision making skills. On the other hand, the main female role of secret agent Bianca is unfortunately very flat as a woman who can only hit and in my opinion has no subtlety at all. She is very ruthless to both her family and her sources and gets a lot more screen time than the Jackal, which unfortunately slows down the tension more often than not.
It also has unnecessary family scenes that completely distract from the actual plot
I feel like her storyline is too broad and her role too unsympathetic to make the series 100% good. But since Eddie’s acting is so great, and the series is of incredibly high aesthetic quality, with great urban and landscape shots and top-notch James Bond music, I think it’s worth a watch. season "Shilo" is one of the biggest TV and broadcast premieres this month.
