But if you know about the limited freedom of women during this period, you will fully appreciate the bravery and productivity on offer here. Personal trauma abandoned Lee to do good with her hard-fought freedoms to operate in a man’s world. Lee has all the period dress and historical accuracy, which is no small feat, while showing sheer determination to achieve.

People back home in the US didn’t exactly believe in the horrors of the Holocaust, and certainly not in the numbers. It was Lee’s undeniably brave journey that brought back unmistakable proof and testimony of evil’s place in history. Knowing that certain things like this cannot be overlooked in person gives empathy to the cost of doing photojournalism.
