A two-hour window into the heart of Hayao Miyazaki’s creative process, the documentary follows six long years of work during the making of The Boy and the Heron, the latest film by the master of Japanese animation. This was a very moving and funny documentary. Kaku Arakawa manages to follow Hayao Miyazaki’s creative process closely, during the making of The Boy and the Heron. He mixes well scenes from Miyazaki’s films and the real people involved in the making of the film and the people who are/were important to Miyazaki. I saw this film at the Helsinki international film festival Love & Anarchy. Some moments had the audience laughing out loud and other moments had people bursting out laughing. I hope Miyazaki will be able to make more films. I can only recommend this documentary to all Studio Ghibli fans.
